Teacher-to-Teacher Notes/Student Worksheets

Prior to teaching this course, I wrote week-by-week lesson plans for this new Entrepreneur course.  I was able to stay on schedule for the first week.  After that, we became waaaay behind schedule, and the things I thought the interns would be interested in turned out not to be interesting to them, and the things I thought they would not be interested in, they were.  You know how it goes.

The group started with 6 interns with a wide range of abilities in:

  • reading
  • writing
  • math (think time/money management)
  • speaking/signing
  • physical dexterity
  • planning/organization
  • computer skills

Despite their varying abilities in these skills,  I have found this is to be a course that can be accommodated for everyone.   It is a course that also allows development and application of  the above-listed functional life skills.

FOR TEACHER VIEWING:  This is a TED Talk video by Dean Bragonier, “The True Gifts of the Dyslexic Mind.”  Even though the definition of dyslexia includes normal or above intelligence, the frustration and gifts that people who can’t read applies to our students who are having difficulty reading.  He mentions “Entrepreneurship” as one of the areas where people with dyslexia  excel!  16 min 51 sec.
